چکیده

In order to understand the influence of magnetic fields on the propagation properties of waves, as derived from different local helioseismology techniques, forward modeling of waves is required. Such calculations need a model in magnetohydrostatic equilibrium as initial atmosphere to propagate oscillations through it. We provide a method to construct such a model in equilibrium for a wide range of parameters to be used for simulations of artificial helioseismologic data. The method combine the advantages of self-similar solutions and current-distributed models. A set of models is developed by numerical integration of magnetohydrostatic equations from the sub-photospheric to chromospheric layers. Subject headings: MHD; Sun: magnetic fields; Sun: sunspots

A study on Ca II 854.2 nm emission in a sunspot umbra using a thin cloud model

In the present work, we introduce and explain a method of solution of the radiative transfer equation based on a thin cloud model. The efficiency of this method to retrieve dynamical chromospheric parameters from Stokes I profiles of Ca II 854.2 nm line showing spectral emission is investigated. The analyzed data were recorded with the Crisp Imaging Spectro-Polarimeter (CRISP) at Swedish 1-m So...

The Nature of Running Penumbral Waves Revealed

We seek to clarify the nature of running penumbral (RP) waves: are they chromospheric trans-sunspot waves or a visual pattern of upward-propagating waves? Full Stokes spectropolarimetric time series of the photospheric Si i 10827 Å line and the chromospheric He i 10830 Å multiplet were inverted using a MilneEddington atmosphere. Spatial pixels were paired between the outer umbral/inner penumbra...

Evidence of photospheric vortex flows at supergranular junctions observed by FG / SOT ( Hinode )

Context. Twisting motions of different nature are observed in several layers of the solar atmosphere. Chromospheric sunspot whorls and rotation of sunspots or even higher up in the lower corona sigmoids are examples of the large scale twisted topology of many solar features. Nevertheless, their occurrence at large scale in the quiet photosphere has not been investigated. Aims. The present study...

Supersonic Downflows in a Sunspot Light Bridge

We report the discovery of supersonic downflows in a sunspot light bridge using measurements taken with the spectropolarimeter on board the Hinode satellite. The downflows occur in small patches close to regions where the vector magnetic field changes orientation rapidly, and are associated with anomalous circular polarization profiles. An inversion of the observed Stokes spectra reveals veloci...

Simulations of waves in sunspots

Magnetic field modifies the properties of waves in a complex way. Significant advances has been made recently in our understanding of the physics of waves in solar active regions with the help of analytical theories, numerical simulations, as well as hi-resolution observations. In this contribution we review the current ideas in the field, with the emphasis on theoretical models of waves in sun...
